Historical Information about this car. Note:
Due to scarcity - not all equipment on car may be period correct. Certain items
may need to be reproduced or sourced over the next few years. Your help in this
process is requested & appreciated. Since
the car was raced over 2 decades a year had to be chosen to restore the car to
- the year chosen was 1983 - the year Nick Fornoro Jr. won the ARDC
Championship driving the car for Mike Scrivani. The
following are low quality "thumbnailed" images. Click on an image to

decrease download times the overall "Restoration" section has been subdivided
into multiple sections with only 10 photos per page. If you are new to our site
please start at the beginning, returning visitors may forward to the later
sections. Page

- Carrera top spring retainer modified to "closely match as possible"
a period correct "looking" shock while maintaining present day performance.
These will be used when car is on track. A period correct "Gabriel"
set is in the works. A spacer had to added to the top since there just was NO
clearance although there should have been...? |
Here
they are mounted on car. (Still in the process of being completed). There are
mounted top up this time instead of top down as I had them before. They are this
way to be more period correct. |

- This is the fiberglass hood that came with car. I do not if this is the original
hood. Though it very well may be. It is the same design as is in all historical
photos graphs I have seen and was received in very bad shape - being repaired
many times. I elected to replace it with a new one - but as available funds became
nonexistent I opted to restore it. Paint was stripped, then gouges were filled
in, self-ejecting fasteners were replaced, primed, fitted on car, now will soon
be painted. |
Searched
around for quite a while to locate some "original Edmunds factory style"
nerf bars & bumper. What I found was the current still in operation "Edmunds
Autoresearch" shop which over the years has switched hands a bit. When these
parts were ordered it was being run by Jeff Wahl out in Corona CA, (909-279-4200).
If you need something give Jeff a call - Please tell him I sent you. Thanks. |

Here
is Edmunds front bumper being tack welded. This whole fitting process took about
3 hours. There are still many hours of welding, grinding and polishing to go before
bumper can be sent off for plating. (If anyone knows of a good INEXPENSIVE
Chrome Platter - please contact me ASAP). |
A
good over all status picture. Front bumper has been tacked. Right side nerf ready
to tack. Working on left side nerf. Hood fitted, ready for paint. Headrest has
been mounted - that was also supplied by Jeff Wahl of Edmunds Autoresearch California.
Axle can be seen in back of photo - that is 99% ready to be reassembled. That
will be a stand alone photo gallery. To the left you see hoses from newly returned
engine. That will also have its own photo gallery. As soon as rear axle is in
car and it is on the ground it will be wheel outside - hose off then the engine
installed.

- The rear is now complete! A complete "Photo
Gallery" which follows every step of the rebuild can be seen by clicking
HERE.
The rear is a tapered axle / Halibrand, H101. This was a COMPLETE and extensive
rebuild. The body was Magnafluxed, threads repaired, sanded, polished, specially
coated and carefully reassembled. A special thanks goes out to Glenn B. &
Weiland for all there help with the rebuild.
Special
coating of rear parts was done by: http://www.hpcoatings.com

The
rear end suspension is carefully being put in place. This is a different set-up
for the car than was on it when we first started. Upon receipt of the car - it
was set-up tight for asphalt. The set-up we are working on is an original soft
Edmunds dirt set-up. | The
shocks being used here are simply to keep the rear in place. Once proper measurements
are made, proper shocks & springs will be put on. |
|
| The
car has been repainted in the same colors it wore back in 1983 - red and black. |
